Adams Auction and Real Estate provided a well rounded, highly positive auction purchase experience for us. Initially, a disclaimer is in order: We had no knowledge of this auction house in advance of finding this auction (it came as a result of a Google search for a specific type of antique item, and we are in no way associated with anyone who works there or who has any ownership interest in it). The auction experience began with a website that allowed easy navigation, including the ability to click on a specific item and then click back to the same place in the auction listing that you had left from. All auction lots were properly photographed multiple times, and the descriptive words used were appropriate for the items - they do not run a specialty collectibles auction, but the keywords used in the description allowed a quick sizing up of the lot contents. The auction items were spaced to each end a standardized amount of time after the preceding item, but as in most “soft close” online auctions, items can overlap each other. Adam’s “soft close” timing extension allowed us to track all items we were intent on purchasing, and avoid missing items that could have occurred if the time extensions were short, as they are on some online auction sites. Adams Auction and Real Estate provided a very descriptive post auction list of successful purchases via email on the same day as the auction finish, including a broken down total amount due tally - here it is also important to note that the Adam’s online auction buyer’s premium was a reasonable 10% additional, which is low for auctions selling antique & collectibles. Post auction handling of item pickup was extraordinary. We phoned the administrative person (Chellanie) while traveling to the Adam’s pickup location, and she offered to have their bidding lot movement specialist (Mason) round up our items in advance, and place them in a centralized location. Note that many of these were small item, multiple items per lot groupings. When we arrived, the lots were aligned in a sequential fashion, and Chellanie provided a list of purchases and a pen so that we could check off purchases once viewed. Mason, who had collected up the items, accompanied us and read the lot number off and counted the items in each lot. In advance he had collected up appropriate sized boxes, and had placed them there. We elected to do our own packing since some of the vintage items were in their original boxes. For the large items, Mason assisted in placing the items into our truck, and Chellanie assisted. It is important to note that Mason was also seamlessly able to assist other individuals picking up items while still providing high level assistance to us - not everyone can balance assisting multiple customers at the same time, and not one time did we have to seek out his assistance. In summary, Adams Auction and Real Estate provided one of the finest all around online auction experiences possible.
